Course Summary

This course discusses the design of flexible pavements by means of mechanistic empirical methods and the design methods which are based on the analysis of stresses and strains in the pavement.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, he participant should be able to determine how structure reacts due to traffic loads or environmental effects using multi layer theory. The participant should understand the use of linear elastic multi layer theory for the calculation of stresses and strains in pavement structures. The collection of input needed to make a mechanistic empirical based design will also be understood.
